One of Frank Lloyd Wright’s Final Designs Sells for $6 Million | Architectural Digest

“Frank Lloyd Wright’s Connecticut masterpiece, Tirranna, just sold for $6 million, according to a press release….Constructed in 1955, Tirranna was one of Wright’s final residential designs before his death in 1959. At 7,000 square feet, it is also one of the architect’s largest creations. The property features Wright’s solar hemicycle design and makes use of a curved glass facade crafted to take advantage of the sun’s movement throughout the day. Inside, the house contains seven bedrooms and eight and a half bathrooms.”

“It was a rare honor to represent Tirranna, a true gem of midcentury architectural history that will continue to provide a Zen-like experience blending nature and comfort to its latest inhabitants,” Albert Safdie, who represented the seller, said in a statement.

Historic townhouses in Fort Greene capped off Brooklyn’s Luxury Market!

The second most expensive home to enter contract was 29 South Elliott Place in Fort Greene, with an asking price of $4.7 million. The 3,500-square-foot townhouse, built in 1899, has five bedrooms and four bathrooms.

The renovated home, which has drifted on and off the market since last March, last traded for $1.5 million in 2010, according to public records. It also features the original hardwood floors and wood-beamed ceilings, an open kitchen, rear deck and landscaped garden with a fountain and koi pond.
